Profile of the Woyenne Daycare
The Woyenne day care has been open since the spring of 1997 as a licensed, non-profit group Child Care Facility. We are licensed for 32 children, 20 preschoolers and 12 Infant/Toddlers, ages 3months to 6 years of age. This program is in operation 12 months out of the year, with 10 months being a regular school year, and two months during the summer is available for the Carrier Language and Culture Program. During regular school hours there is a preschool component administered in the morning.
The day care was intended for the younger generation to provide an opportunity for them to continue their education and to have first priority, if they were to attend an Educational program within the area.
The day care has 6 employees with 2 one-to-one workers, 4 of those staff members have their license to practice as Early Childhood Educators and most of their Infant/Toddler courses finished. Four of these who work in this field are fluent in their language as well as teach the Carrier Language Program during the summer months. All staff members are to have a criminal record check done on a regular basis.
The daycare has also implemented a hot lunch program in which the children get two nutritional snacks a day along with a hot lunch.
The day care works closely with the Early Intervention Team who comes into our daycare on a weekly basis. They provide our children, caregivers and parents with developmental activities and resources whenever possible.
