FOOD FISH UPDATE – LBN MEMBERS
Lake Babine Nation will begin Food Fish distribution on August 20, 2026, as conditions are improving and more fish are being allowed to continue through the Babine River Fish Fence.
Please note: The Babine River Fish Fence will remain CLOSED to Food Fish pick up for the duration of the season.
To provide fish to members who would normally receive their Food Fish at the fence, LBN will distribute fish on designated dates at MPMC Hall and Eagles Landing Gas Bar in Tachet.
Wit’at (Fort Babine) members setting net in Babine River / Nilkitkwa Lake are encouraged to report their catch numbers to Brenda Donas via email brenda.donas@lakebabine.com by Tuesday each week for future reporting purposes.
Distribution Information:
- LBN members only, Ages 18+
- Maximum of 50 fish per household, or until numbers improve
- Distribution dates will be announced as they are confirmed
- Members must provide a valid LBN Status Card, following the same identification protocols normally used at the Fish Fence
- Members must bring their own containers and ice for transporting fish
Food Fish distribution will continue while fish numbers and quality allow. Updates will be provided if quantities increase or when Food Fish distribution must end for the season.
